Rita Marie Winger, 88, of Hanna, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Avalon Springs Health Campus in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Rita was born on August 5, 1937, in Kentland, Indiana, to Frank and Edna Burman.

On May 20, 1956, she married Vern "Jake" Winger, who preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Scott Winger of Chesterton and Suzi Winger-Zeiss of Sharpsville; grandchildren, Nicole (Garth), Chad (Ashten), Lauren, and Abigail; great-grandchildren, Kinley, McKinzie, Kegan, Myla, Logan, Layla, Canaan, and Callahan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Jerry Burman.

Rita was a proud member of Hanna United Methodist Church, which she loved. She was also the administrator of the La Porte County Home for many years. Rita enjoyed quilting.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Hanna United Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Schrock officiating. Burial will follow at Hanna Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, and on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
