Diane Marie Kopanski, age 82, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 12:53 p.m.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana.
Diane was born on August 26, 1942, in La Porte, Indiana, to the late Norman W. Martensen and Inez E. Talmadge. On July 28, 1962, she married James E. Kopanski in Michigan City. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2009.
She is survived by her children: Pam (O.J.) Bowen of La Porte, IN; Christine Kopanski of Michigan City, IN; and Donald (Toni) Kopanski of La Porte, IN. Diane was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren: Paul Kopanski, Josh (Amanda) Tilden, Candace Kopanski, Amber Saylor, Holly (Stanley) Condi, Jackolyn (Joe) Combs, Timothy Saylor, Bridget (Chuck) McCrudden, Christopher (Samantha) McCrudden, and Amanda King; and a beloved great-grandmother to twenty-nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Raymond Tilden.
In addition to her parents and husband, Diane was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Tilden, and her brother, Fritz Martensen.
Diane spent many years working in retail and was known for her warm, kind-hearted spirit. She loved playing bingo and found great joy and peace in fishing - one of her greatest passions.
