JoAnn Goble, age 75, of Hamlet, IN, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, August 22, 2025.
She passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family. JoAnn was born on December 3, 1949, in Knox, IN, to the late Lionel and Mollie “Madge” Taulbee.
A proud graduate of Knox High School, Class of 1968, JoAnn lived a life marked by hard work, kindness, and devotion to those she loved. On June 16, 1968, in Knox, she married the love of her life, Gene “Cannonball” Goble. Together, they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage before his passing. Their bond was one of true love and partnership, filled with laughter, family, and cherished memories.
JoAnn worked at the Ben Franklin Dime Store during her school years before spending ten years with American Home Foods in LaPorte. She was a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary and gave her time and talents cooking and bartending at the American Legion in Hamlet and Knox. Her passion for cooking was well-known and deeply appreciated by both family and friends alike. Christmas and Thanksgiving were her favorite times to cook and bake, filling her home with warmth, love, and delicious food. She enjoyed music—especially during the holiday season—and when younger, spent many happy hours in a bowling league with her sister, Brenda. In her later years, she became a proud Notre Dame football fan and rarely missed watching a game. She also shared a love of gardening with her husband, Cannon, and together they grew and canned the vegetables from their garden.
Above all, JoAnn’s greatest joy was her family. She was a hardworking and caring woman who gave endlessly of herself. Her love for her family and friends was admired by all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt. She is survived by her son, Clint (Jennifer) Goble; two grandsons, Bryce Goble and Brandon Goble; one sister, Brenda Everage; one brother, Roger (Debbie) Taulbee; nieces and nephews, Bob Everage, Chrystal (Justin) Risner, Mollie (Bobby) Howard, and Dustin (Amber) Taulbee; and her partner, Jim Younggreen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Gene “Cannonball”, and her brother-in-law, John Everage. Funeral services will be at 2:00 CDT on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel, with visitation from Noon to 2:00 CDT also on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox. JoAnn’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
