Jeffrey William Ginther, October 27, 1960 - July 7, 2025.
Jeffrey Ginther, 64, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 7, 2025.
He was born on October 27, 1960, in Michigan City to William and Carol (Wentland) Ginther.
As a young man, Jeff delivered the South Bend Tribune and was known for his academic prowess at both Queen of All Saints Middle School and Elston Senior High School, from which he graduated with honors in 1978.
Upon graduation, Jeff attended Purdue North Central University, once again attaining recognition for his studies by making the Chancellor's Honors list on two separate occasions. He then attended Southeastern Business Academy, specializing in the travel industry, and it was there that he found his calling.
After various jobs as a young man, he found employment with the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism. He would spend the next thirty years excelling in his work and traveling the world, promoting the Cayman Islands. Though it took him away from his beloved Michigan City, he took pride in every aspect of his job and was a certified Scuba Diver in several countries spanning the Caribbean.
Jeff was known for his caring nature, his selflessness to family and friends, and his devotion to his mother. He loved Christmas, and his annual parties were always the highlight of the year. He will be missed by many dear friends and work colleagues, especially Uncle Lou, Doug, Bob W., Cindy, Beth, and Olga.
After thirty years in the travel industry, Jeff looked forward to retirement and being home, where he enjoyed gardening and taking care of his property. He especially took delight in spending time with his many nieces, nephews, and their spouses: Nicholas & Siobhan, Ben & Carol, Jordan, Catherine & Devin, Brian, and his eight great-nieces and nephews. They will all dearly miss their beloved “Uncle Punk”.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, William and Barb Ginther; his mother, Carol Thomas; one brother, Mark (Kim Greene) Ginther; and one sister, Mary Ginther Pearson, all of Michigan City; they will miss their beautiful son and brother, his engaging smile, and the twinkle in his blue eyes.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Richard Pearson, and his stepfather, Jerry Thomas.
A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana 46360. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral chapel.
