Kimberly Louise (Lubs) Martin, November 2, 1965 - June 11, 2025.
Kimberly Louise (Lubs) Martin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at Rush Hospital in Chicago after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 59 years old.
Born on November 2, 1965, in Michigan City, Indiana, Kim was the cherished daughter of Jim and Judy Lubs. She was especially close to her grandmother, Louise Washluske, who helped shape the kind and loving woman Kim became. Though an only child, Kim found chosen sisters in Beth (Eigenmann) Hodges of Tallahassee, Florida, and Kristi Callan of Michigan City, Indiana, relationships that brought her lifelong joy and strength.
Kim graduated from Elston High School in 1984 and soon after married her high school sweetheart, Tim Martin, in 1985. Their love story began at Carlson’s Drive-In, where they both worked and grew into a beautiful partnership that lasted four decades. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and shared dreams.
Professionally, Kim worked for many years as an Executive Assistant at Weil-McLean. In 2004, she and Tim began a new chapter as the proud owners of Bubbles Ice Cream Parlor, where they served not just treats, but a sense of community. Kim especially cherished the bonds she formed with the many young people who worked there over the years.
Above all else, Kim's heart belonged to her family. She was a devoted mother to Zachary (Natalie) Martin and a loving grandmother to her two grandsons, Adam and Sam, who were the light of her life. Kim’s happiest moments were spent near “blue water,” with the sound of the ocean and the presence of her family bringing her peace and joy.
While she did not belong to a specific church, Kim was deeply grounded in her Christian faith, which provided her with unwavering peace and hope throughout her illness. Her spiritual journey was lovingly supported by friend and Pastor Ron Gaston and the Temple Worship Center community, whose compassion and prayers meant the world to her.
Kim will be remembered for her generosity, strength, and the quiet, radiant love she gave to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
