Alta (Stacy) Rison, May 10, 1921-May 27, 2025.

Alta Rison, 104, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Brickyard Healthcare, 1700 "I" Street, La Porte, IN.

She was born May 10, 1921, in Hazard, Kentucky, the daughter of Ben Stacy and Cynthia (Combs) Stacy. On February 5, 1938, Alta Stacy and Ernest Rison were joined in wedlock in Hazard, Kentucky. They had three children, and while Ernest was tending to the Filling Station they owned in Bowling Green, KY, Alta was busy raising the children, keeping the home in pristine condition, and cooking wonderful meals for the family to enjoy. Finally settling in La Porte, Indiana, in November 1951, Alta attended Kingsbury Baptist Church, continued to take care of her family, and made trips with them back to Hazard and Cincinnati to visit relatives. She loved her neighbors and enjoyed a little friendly baking competition with them from time to time. Alta enjoyed listening to Dulcimer music and was lucky enough to have Pastor JoEllyn Chadwick play for her in her waning hours. Her life was well-lived, and she was well-loved by all who knew her.

Alta is survived by her son, Bennie Ray (Karen) Rison of La Porte, IN; daughter, Tawnya Jean Dreiner of Cape Coral, FL; four granddaughters, Shawn (Robert) C'Debaca, Lori McCarty, Wendy (Scott) Hakes, Hayley Dreiner; grandson, Nigel Dreiner; great-grandchildren, Roberta, Jessica, Adrienne, Benjamin, Jackson; great-great-grandchildren, Kylee, Bradyn, Natalie, Jasper, Parker, Scarlett, Dalton, Lillian, Piper, Gunner, Taytum and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; son, Ernest Rison, Jr.; granddaughter, Rayna Rison; five sisters, four brothers, and great-grandson, Hunter.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN, where, on Monday, June 2, 2025, a viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at which time a service will be conducted by Pastor JoEllyn Chadwick, Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow at the Swan Lake Cemetery Mausoleum, Michigan City, IN.
