Jeffrey Alan Harder, 70, of Terre Haute, passed away early in the morning on Sunday, May 18th, 2025, at Union Hospital.
Born May 25, 1954, in La Porte, Indiana, Jeff graduated from La Porte High School in 1972. During high school, he enjoyed participating in 4-H and even earned a blue ribbon for his barbecuing skills. He also enjoyed his time as a stage technician and even as an actor in the LaPorte Little Theater. Jeff was a dedicated member of the Maple City Cadets drum corps team from 1968-1974 and was presented with the Rudi award for outstanding leadership in 1971 and Corpsman of the Year in 1972. He was also an active member of LaPorte’s chapter of Teens Against Cancer and served as President in 1972.
Jeff went on to attend and graduate from Purdue University North Central in 1974 with an associate’s degree in Computer Science. Jeff had a deep passion for his career and spent 50 years working as a Software Senior Analyst and Capacity Planner for Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance.
In 2002, Jeff married the love of his life, Carol, and moved to Terre Haute, Indiana. A dedicated husband, step-father, and follower of Christ, Jeff enjoyed taking his family on vacation, especially to Disney World. He also loved supporting, traveling, and cheering for the Contemporary Christian band Sidewalk Prophets, founded by his stepson, David. His grandchildren William, Shepherd, and Aria brought him so much joy and always found a way to make him smile. He will be deeply and lovingly missed by his family.
Jeff is survived by his wife Carol Elaine Harder: stepsons, David Douglas (Harmony) Frey and Daniel Christopher James (Tabitha) Frey; grandchildren, William, Shepherd, and Aria Frey; brothers, Timothy Lee Harder and Lonnie Patrick (Stacey) Harder; sister, Susan Rae Harder-Swank; and his beloved nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Patricia Ann Harder; grandparents, Clarance and Irene Gilliam, and William and Anna Harder; and in-laws Gene and Mary Lou Warner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jeff's memory to the American Cancer Society.
