Barbara E. Kresminski, 81, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 5:30 am in her home.
Barbara was born to Harold and Helen (Gawronski) Kopanski on December 28, 1943, in Gary, Indiana.
Barb graduated from Elston High School, Michigan City, in 1962.
On June 14, 1969, she married James Kresminski, who preceded her in death in 1976. Barb was a loving mother, devoted to raising her two young children on her own while working full time.
Throughout her working years, she was employed at Josam Manufacturing, St. Anthony’s Hospital, Kingwood Hospital, and the Swanson Center, primarily in the billing departments. With her warm, loving personality, Barb made many lasting friendships during this time, at work, in activities at her church, St. Stanislaus, and throughout the community.
In 2005, Barb moved in with her daughter, Carolyn, due to a disabling illness. Despite this, she continued to reach out with her caring heart to her friends and family. Barb shared her love with many animal companions throughout her life, the most recent being her daughter’s dog, Mila.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents and brothers James and Richard Kopanski.
Surviving are her beloved children, Steve (Cheryl) Kresminski of La Porte, IN, and Carolyn Kresminski of Michigan City, IN; sister, Cecilia Wolfe of La Porte, IN, and cousin, Bob (Wendy) Kermen of Michigan City, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN, with Rev. Walter Rakoczy officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am - 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral chapel.
