Christine M. Rago, of La Porte, IN, fought a brave battle and passed away on April 23, 2025.

She is survived by her loving soulmate and wife, Laurie. Together, they shared over 34 years of love and laughter.

She is the loving mother of 6 Border Collies, 2 cats, 2 llamas, as well as several sheep and chickens. Chris was an avid advocate for all animals and never saw an animal that she didn't want to help. She loved and enjoyed nature to the fullest by participating in hiking, fishing, golfing, gardening, camping, and boating.  

Chris is a retired Chicago Firefighter for over 30 years.  She was in the first class of women Firefighters/EMTs in the City of Chicago.

She was a talented, brilliant person who could use her skills for everything, including carpentry, electricity, plumbing, automotive, and everything in between.  Her ability to fix things was nothing less than extraordinary. Chris was so generous with her talents and time, and she never turned away anyone in need of her skills.

Chris left behind her wife and the animal kingdom, the best life they could have without her. She had a huge heart and was dearly loved by everyone who met her.  She will truly be missed.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 3 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with a Prayer Service at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. (CST) on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.

Memorial donations may be made to the La Porte County Animal Control & The Jane Bernard Animal Adoption Center, 2855 IN-2, La Porte, IN 46350.
