Edwin Woodrow Resetar, (Ed, Eddie) age 62, of McHenry, IL, passed away after a brief illness at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN on Thursday, April 17th, 2025.
Eddie was born in LaPorte, IN, on June 7th, 1962, to the late Edwin (Yogi) Paul Resetar (1939-1992) and Judith Elaine (Smoker) Beck (1940-2022). Eddie is survived by his only daughter, who he adored, Andrea J Resetar of League City, TX, step-father Butch (Judy) Beck of New Carlisle, IN, brother Scott (Bonnie) Resetar of Michigan City, IN, sisters, Brenda (late - Joseph) Petrone of Westville, IN, Christine Covington of Charlotte, NC, and Jennifer (John) Strieter of Rolling Prairie, IN, step-brothers, Jeffrey (Katherine) Beck and Steven (Jasmine) Beck, both of Yuma, AZ, Todd (Alea) Beck of Columbus, OH, Dale (Janice) Beck of Koontz Lake, IN, Michael Kuk of Elephant Butte, NM, step-sisters, Lori (Dan) Meyer of Mount Pleasant, SC, Laura (Jim) Eames of Columbia, IL, and Donna (Rick) Hummel of Wonder Lake, IL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and his former wife and good friend, Carolyn Perez of San Francisco Bay, CA.
Eddie will be joining his family in Heaven, including his parents, his nephew Jason Scott Barger, and his step-brother John (Jody Marlow, who survives) Beck, as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and his beloved dog, Humphrey.
Eddie grew up in LaPorte County, attending Maple Elementary and New Prairie Schools until his sophomore year, when he moved to Wonder Lake, IL, and graduated from Woodstock High School. He moved on to become a carpenter. He had a big heart and loved helping others with his skills whenever he could! In the words of his good friend and colleague: “Eddie was a very talented and experienced carpenter all his life. He was known as a jokester and could master the most difficult projects. The quality of his work is unmatched. He was instrumental in helping his colleagues and was well known in his local carpentry community.” Eddie enjoyed many sports, including golf and fishing trips with his buddies. He loved spending time with his friends and family. One of his favorite hangouts when he came home to Indiana was Nowhere Bar and Grill in Saugany Lake! Eddie was loved and will be missed by so many.
His family would like to thank the Franciscan ED, PCU, and ICU teams in Michigan City, as well as the IU Health Methodist Hospital CVCC team in Indianapolis, including the Superior Ambulance Service team who transferred him to Indianapolis, for their expert care.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 1-4 p.m. at the PNA Club, 306 Park St., La Porte, IN.
