Eddie Wayne Summerlin, 80, from Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, in his home.
A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana, is handling arrangements.
He was born on February 2, 1945, in Warsaw, Indiana, to the late Vivian "Spiv" and Mildred "Millie" (Garrison) Summerlin. In 1965, he married Paula Shaver, sharing a family of four sons. Eddie later married Linda Howerton in 1994, staying married for 23 years.
Surviving are four sons, Steve Summerlin of La Porte, Indiana, Wayne (Rochelle) Summerlin of Michigan City, Indiana, Jeff (Kathy) Summerlin of Trail Creek, Indiana, and Greg Summerlin of Michigan City, Indiana; two former wives, Paula Baranowski and Linda Summerlin; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandchild, Joshua Summerlin.
Eddie honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a
long-time member of American Legion Post 451, Michigan City. Eddie retired in 2004 as a millwright from Bethlehem Steel. During his 80 healthy years of life, he enjoyed watching car races and working on vehicles.
