Lorna M. Cooksey, 93, of La Porte, IN, passed away on February 28, 2025 at Oak Woods Manor.
Lorna was born on May 2, 1931, to Walter and Ilo Lavon (Eaglebarger) Nifong.
On January 16, 1950, in Plymouth, IN, she married Arthur Cooksey, who preceded her in death. Surviving Lorna are her 3 daughters and son-in-law, Janet (Jack) Kenyon of New Carlisle, Peggy (Jerry) Rose of Rolling Prairie, Joni (Wilbur) Peak of Elkhart, and Gil Urban of St. Joseph, MI; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Regina Urban, and brothers, Roger, Floyd, and Norman Nifong.
Lorna loved traveling and spending time with her family. She will fondly be remembered for her willingness and love to help others, as well as the grand family gatherings she hosted.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Plymouth.
A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
