Venia Mae Odle Wendt, 90, of Michigan City, IN, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Venia was born on August 15, 1934, in Pine Knot, KY, to Virgil and Sula (Gilreath) Stephens.

Surviving Venia are her 3 children, Greg (Gail) Odle of La Porte, Regina (Steve) Wawok of Culver, IN, and Denise Gardner of Michigan City; daughters-in-law, Kathleen Enos of La Porte, IN, and Sue Hewitt of La Porte, IN; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn (Dana) Elliott of Greenwood, IN, Sula Dippold of Trafalgar, IN, Wonda (Ray) Carr of Greenwood, IN, and Sharren Cooper; and special friend, Carl Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald J. Odle; sons, James and Darrell Odle; sister, Lena Atkins; and brothers, Delmer and Logan Stephens.

Venia was loved by all and her family was of utmost importance to her.  She loved Christmas, cherishing the holiday as her whole family would gather at her home for Christmas Day.  Venia also had treasured relationships with many close friends, who shared time with her playing golf, attending plays and concerts, and collecting antiques.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at noon on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 818 Franklin Square, Michigan City, IN 46360.
