Lu Walker Cox, 92, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 8:10 p.m. in Brickyard Healthcare-Terrace Care Center, La Porte, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Deacon Kathy Melendez officiating.Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
She was born on June 1, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late John Loomis and Ruth Vanneta (Applegate) Walker. On July 1, 1950, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Norman Russell Cox, who preceded her in death April 20, 2016.
Also preceding her in death were her three brothers, John and Van Walker, and Stanley Russell; and one son-in-law, Stanley Przybylinski.
Surviving are her four children, Deborah Cox and Kimberly Przybylinski, both of Michigan City, Indiana, Jeffrey (Catherine) Cox of La Porte, Indiana, and Kevin (Kay) Cox of Buckeye, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Andrea (Brent) Hoag, Corey (Kelli) Cox, Samantha (Alex) Pishkur, Dr. Morgan (Dr. Brandon) Henry, Jacob (Sydney) Cox, Adam (Melissa) Przybylinski, and Rachel (Matthew) Shannon. Lu was very proud also of her eleven great-grandchildren.
Lu retired as office manager of Jet Fabricators, Inc., in April of 1996. She was an active member of the closed St. Andrew's-by-the-Lake Episcopal Church on Moore Road.
In lieu of flowers, Lu requested (with her grateful thanks) that contributions be made to a favorite charity or educational institution of the donor's choice and/or Heart to Heart Hospice, 402 Wall St. #12, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383.
