William E. Emberton

William  E Emberton, May 23, 1945-February 4, 2025.

William E Emberton, 79, of Walkerton, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton, IN.

He was born May 23, 1945, in Monroe County, Kentucky, the son of Hulet E Emberton and Renia (Gearls) Emberton. 

William lived in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to the Walkerton, IN, area in 1986. He attended New Life ConnectPoint Church in La Porte.  For over two decades, William dedicated his career to Macray Plastics, where he worked as an injection molder. William, an entrepreneur at heart, owned his own spice company, F&B Spices. Known affectionately as the “King of Spice,” which earned him the nickname "Spicy", he became a familiar face at the Shipshewana Flea Market, where his tantalizing spices gained a loyal following among those who appreciated the artistry of flavorful cooking. William had a deep passion for the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting. A die-hard fisherman, he found joy in the serene moments spent by the water, with Bluegill his favorite catch. In addition to his love for fishing and hunting, William was a skilled mechanic with a penchant for restoring classic cars. He enjoyed revitalizing old Chevys and Fords during his free time, demonstrating an appreciation for the beauty of automotive craftsmanship. 

He will be lovingly missed by those who survive him, including his son, William H (Tammy) Emberton of Wonder Lake, IL; three stepdaughters, Juanita Malloy of Chicago, IL, Terry (Willie) Ruiz of Puerto Rico, Peggy Gripaldi of FL; brother, Mole Emberton of Glasgow, KY; two nephews, Chris Emberton, Randy Emberton; 14 grandchildren, including Daniel E., and Danna of Wonder Lake, IL, and 7 great-grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by the mother of his son, Carole Emberton; grandson, James "Jimmy"  Emberton;  brothers, Marvin and Mitchell Emberton.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN, where the family will hold a visitation with a viewing on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  The family has selected cremation.  

Memorial contributions may be made in William's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
