Gloria J. Reed, 78, Kingsford Heights, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 9:29 pm in Powers Health Community Hospital, Munster, IN.
Funeral services will be held at noon, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN, with  Pastor Eric Gawura officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Wednesday at the funeral chapel. She was born October 20, 1946, in Michigan City, IN to the late Paul and Ruth (Mason) Allen. On April 3, 1971, in Michigan City, IN she married John Reed who survives in Kingsford Heights, IN. Also surviving is a daughter, Robin (Roger) Vargo of Kingsford Heights, IN; son, Joel (Emily Krause) Reed of La Paz, IN; six grandchildren, Bradley Reed, Austin Gabric, Holly Vargo, Casey Vargo, James Krause and Ruth Reed; ten great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jasmine, Nathan, Jordan, Pheonix, Alison, Quincy, Adonarim, Angela and Joslin; 2 nieces, 1 nephew, a beloved aunt and numerous cousins. 
She was also preceded in death by a son, Bradley Reed; and brother, Paul Allen.
Gloria had worked as a newspaper editor at The Culver Citizen. She also worked at the Pilot News, Vidette-Messenger, Dover Daily Advance, and Michigan City News-Dispatch, and owned a herb store. Gloria was a children's missionary for Child Evangelism Fellowship. Gloria was an award-winning writer. She enjoyed photography, gardening, and arts and crafts.
