Eleanor Mae Fritzen Huenecke, 90, of La Porte, IN, passed away on December 18, 2024, at Trustwell Living at Settlers Place Assisted Living, La Porte. 

Eleanor was born in Michigan City, on November 21, 1934, to LeRoy and Isabel (Christenson) Fritzen. 

On June 5, 1954, at St. John's Lutheran Church, she married Herbert Edward Huenecke, who preceded her in death.  

Surviving Eleanor are her children, Carla Kemiel of La Porte, Karen (Ted) Pulaski of Westfield, Kristine (Richard) Bertapelli of Wabash, Kevin (Amy) Huenecke of New Carlisle, and Kathi Huenecke of La Porte; 10 grandchildren, Tara, Cameron, Nathaniel, Katrina, Jeralyn, Jasen, Kody, Miya, Seth, and Danny; 4 great-grandchildren, Ellie, Reagan, Cecilia, and baby girl Kemiel; 2 sisters, Eloise Bush of La Porte and Diane Glassman of La Porte; brother, Charles Fritzen of LaPorte; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; brother, LeRoy Fritzen, Jr., sister, Betty Fritzen; son-in-law, Ronald Kemiel; and brothers-in-law, Harland Bush and George Glassman. 

Eleanor was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.  She retired from her position as Engineering Department Executive Secretary at Allis-Chalmers in 1980.  Eleanor later retired from Wal-Mart in 2006.  She was an avid bowler and was a member of the Allis-Chalmers Women's Bowling League for many years.  Eleanor enjoyed sewing and completing puzzles. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Ronald Brauer officiating. Eleanor's final resting place will be at Rolling Prairie Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. 

Memorial donations may be made in Eleanor's honor to the Jane Bernard Animal Adoption Center, 2855 W. State Road 2, La Porte, IN 46350.
