Joseph W. Campbell

Joseph W. Campbell, August 28, 1928 - December 17, 2024.  
Joseph W. Campbell, 96, from Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 10:18 am in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana. 
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 20, 2024, at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Indiana, with Rev. David Kime officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum,  Michigan City, Indiana.  Visitation will be from 4:00 PM -7:00 PM, Thursday, in theOtt/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, and from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Queen of all Saints Legacy Center, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Indiana.  The Rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM Thursday in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.  
He was born August 28, 1928, in Three Oaks, Michigan to the late Walter and Mary (Rickert) Campbell. On May 13, 1950, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Elaine Robowski, who survives in Michigan City, Indiana. Also surviving are two daughters, Janet Claire Curran of Elgin, Illinois, and Catherine Ann (William) Shea of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Aaron (Dana) Smidt, Mark (Ashley) Smidt, Matthew Shea, and Jessica Shea; great-grandchildren, Harrison Smidt, Cameron Smidt, Maxwell Smidt, Adriana Smidt, Cora Smidt, Nolan Smidt, and Ava Shea along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, and great-great-nephews;  He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Campbell, John Campbell; and two sisters, Mary Louise Hass, Elizabeth Troyer. 
Joe grew up working on the family Three Oaks farm and continued several other jobs throughout his career that touched many lives.  He retired from Joy Mfg, Michigan City, Indiana, as an Industrial Engineer. He was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church for over 65 years.  During that time he was an amazing steward serving as President of the Parish Council and served on it for numerous years. He was both a commentator and lecturer for over 60 years. He also was a member of the Queen of All Saints Knights of Columbus Council 12951 and served on the maintenance and building committees. Joe served in many capacities giving back to the community over the years having served as President of the Men's Senior Golf Club, President of the Men's Bowling League, and President of the Michigan City Senior Center, where he helped assemble and mail the Senior Center newsletter for over 26 years.  Among enjoying many sports, he also enjoyed fishing and netting smelt.
