Cynthia Marie Monaco

Cynthia Marie Monaco, January 16, 1958-December 5, 2024.
Loving Mother, Cherished Sister, and Devoted Friend Cynthia Marie Monaco, a mother of three sons and a sister to five siblings, passed away on December 5, surrounded by family at Hinsdale Hospital in Hinsdale, Illinois.
Cindy was born in Berwyn, Illinois, to Rodney and Rose Marie Mannion. In her early childhood, her family moved to Long Beach, Indiana, where she grew up just a few blocks from the shores of Lake Michigan. With her brunette hair, hazel eyes, and vibrant personality, Cindy was often compared to her father and was the apple of his eye.  She attended Notre Dame Grade School, Marquette High School, and St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, where she majored in Business.  A natural go-getter, Cindy embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity.
During her teen years, she worked at a variety of jobs across Michigan City; from assisting at St. Anthony’s Hospital to working at Citizen’s Bank and even a local drive-in, Morrison’s.
After completing her education at St. Mary’s, which included a cherished year studying abroad in Rome, Italy, Cindy began her career in advertising as a media buyer.  She enjoyed working for renowned firms like Leo Burnett and J. Walter Thompson. Cindy loved the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago, which complemented her vibrant spirit.  Cindy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved riding her bike, going to the movies, and indulging her sweet tooth with her favorite treat - Swedish Fish. She had an eye for beauty which manifested itself in a variety of ways including decorating her home for the holidays and
creating a wonderful garden in the yard of her longtime home in Western Springs, Illinois.
Above all, Cindy was a loving mother to her three sons, Henry, Daniel, and Christopher, whom she adored and considered her greatest accomplishment. Her love for her family and her zest for life left an indelible mark on everyone she met. As one close friend put it, “Cindy had dazzle.”
Cindy is survived by her sons, Henry, Daniel, and Christopher; her
sisters Annemarie, Margaret, and Jennifer Mannion; her brothers Richard (Natalie) Mannion and Rodney (Lorraine) Mannion; her sister-in-law Christa Mannion; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived will be cherished by all who knew her.
The mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1010 Moore Road, Long Beach, Indiana with Rev. Keith McClellan officiating.  Private family burial will take place in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Evergreen Park, Illinois.  Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Notre Dame Catholic Church.  Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
