Raymond M. Howaniec, 71, from Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 12:34 pm in his home.
Private family services will be conducted. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
He was born July 15, 1953, in Evergreen Park, IL to John and Delores (Moskal) Howaniec.
Surviving are his daughter, Kimberly (Loren) Brewer of Bristol, IN; four grandchildren, Eli, Molly, Adelyn, and Charlotte; his mother, Delores Howaniec of Kankakee, IL; sister, Susanne (Preston) Medrano of Chicago, IL; and four brothers, Richard (Joan) Howaniec of Kankakee, IL, Donald (Lita) Howaniec of Indianapolis, IN, Patrick Howaniec of Findley, OH and John Howaniec of Woodland, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Howaniec.
Ray had faith in God's eternal promises and was a faithful member of his church. As a skilled carpenter and painter, Ray used his God-given talents to renovate and rehabilitate houses. He used his craftsmanship skills to transform houses into homes making his community a better place to live. He also worked as a truck driver and at Sharing Meadows Home for the Handicapped. Beyond his work, he found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was passionate about boating and fishing and had been an avid fisherman since childhood often fishing in lakes and rivers
throughout the Midwest. Ray also found peace in working in his gardens and took great joy in producing a bounty of fresh vegetables every summer. He enjoyed cooking and using the fresh vegetables he grew and the fish he caught to make amazing meals."
