David Alan Hooper, 82, of La Porte, IN, passed away on November 19, 2024, at Brickyard Healthcare-Terrace Care Center.  

David was born on August 30, 1942, in La Porte, IN, to the late Howard and Dorris Williamson Hooper.  

A graduate of Purdue University, David was a history teacher at South Central Schools.  He enjoyed coaching basketball and was an avid golfer.  David loved his dogs, especially Dusty, better known as the "Junkyard Dog", and Max, the golden retriever he adopted from the local animal shelter.  David was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1965-67.  He was honorably discharged at an E-5 rank. 

A time of visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 7 p.m.  On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 10 a.m., a burial with military honors will take place at Carmel Cemetery.
