Shirley M. Smiley, 75, Ledbetter, Kentucky, formerly of Michigan City, IN, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 2:36 pm in her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 15, 2024, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. Private burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Friday at the funeral chapel.
She was born October 16, 1949, in Michigan City, IN to the late George and Eleanor (Szymkowski) Benninghoff.
Surviving are her husband, Dennis Smiley; son, Michael (Patricia) Cunningham of Michigan City, IN; step-daughter, Nancy of Florida; step-son, Craig (Janine) Smiley of Westville, IN; two sisters, Arlene Wegiel and Mary (Owen) Hurley both of La Porte, IN; brother, George (Connie) Benninghoff of La Porte, IN; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nephews.
Shirley retired from Sullair Corp. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and flower gardening.
