David A. Wegiel

Mr. David A. Wegiel, 80, of La Porte died unexpectedly Thursday night October 31, 2024, at his home.

He was born on July 20, 1944, in La Porte to Joseph G. Sr and Norma E. (Wells) Wegiel and lived his entire life in the La Porte area.

He was an avid fisherman and woodworker. He also loved baseball. He graduated from La Porte High School in 1962. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church his entire life. David retired from American National Can/Silgan Containers after working there for over thirty years.

He leaves behind his wife Susan (Marovich) Wegiel. Also, his sons, David (Lori) and Gregory (Lindsay); and grandkids, Adalynn, Tyler, Delaney, and Stella. He also leaves behind his brother Dan (Jonnie) Wegiel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his brother, Joe.

Visitation will be from 4-7:00 pm, Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m.

On Friday, November 8, 2024, visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am at Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 Bach Street, La Porte, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 Bach Street, La Porte, IN 46350.
