Norma Jean (Scoby) Jones, May 28, 1952-October 23, 2024.  

Norma Jean (Scoby) Jones, 72, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Aperion Care Arbors in Michigan City.  

Norma was born May 28, 1952, in Aberdeen, Washington. In 1991, Norma made her home in La Porte County after relocating from Fayetteville, Tennessee. She was known for her love of travel and the joy it brought her. Norma dedicated 25 years of her life to a career as an over-the-road truck driver, a profession that showcased her love of exploring the open roads. As an avid gardener, she loved growing vegetables that often made their way into her delicious home-cooked meals. Norma was a fan of romance novels and reading that provided her with escape and inspiration. She enjoyed being there for her children and was often involved in sports and 4-H while they were in school. Norma loved the holidays, where she was able to celebrate with both her children and grandchildren around her. She is greatly loved and dearly missed by all who knew her.  

She is survived by her husband, Richard Jones; three sons, Teddy K Leslie II of La Porte, IN, Thomas Leslie of Michigan City, IN, and Timothy (Megan) Leslie of Kingsbury, IN; daughter Shannon (Josh) Wright of Michigan City, IN; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

Norma was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Dakota Gordon.  

Arrangements are entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later time. Cremation has taken place.   

Memorial contributions may be made to her son Teddy in the care of Haverstock Funeral Home.
