David "Skip" Martin Lemley Jr., October 13, 1942-October 21, 2024.
David "Skip" M Lemley Jr., 82, of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones in New Carlisle, Indiana.
David was born October 13, 1942, in West Liberty, West Virginia, to David Martin Lemley Sr., and Sarah Louise (Buster) Lemley. Sarah remarried Jennings Breeden, who raised Skip as his own.
Growing up in West Virginia, where he enjoyed fishing, Skip graduated from High School and served in the United States Navy before moving to the La Porte area, where he spent most of his adult life. On April 5, 1974, in Pinhook, IN, he married the love of his life, Victoria (Turner) Lemley, who preceded him in death on February 15, 2012. He pursued a fulfilling career as a machine operator at Bethlehem Steel, where he worked until his retirement at the age of 62. A proud member of the American Legion of New Carlisle, Skip enjoyed classic cars, looking at them in awe as he skimmed through one of his beloved books. During his free time, he enjoyed reading, watching TV, and going to the movies. His true passion in life, however, was his family. Skip was known as the joker of the family, always quick to bring smiles and laughter to gatherings. He loved holiday celebrations, which allowed him to gather all those he loved under one roof. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family.
Skip is survived by his daughter, Kasey Renèe (Kevin) Bealor of New Carlisle, IN; brother, Robin (Allison) Breeden of Carmel, IN; sister, Zelma Lemley Hunssaker of CA; eight grandchildren, Airron Lemley, Abigayle Foreman, Alan (Wendy) Bealor, Chrystal Bealor, Deziray (Trever) Hefright, Jacob Foreman, Deven (Skylar) Foreman, Andy Bealor, and eight great-grandchildren, Peyton Davis, Alyssa Jenks, Emily Jenks, Nathan Jenks, Izaac Bealor, Jace Bealor, Makalinn Jenks, Alan Bealor, Jr..
Along with his wife of 38 years, David was preceded in death by his parents, David Lemley, and Sarah Lemley-Breeden; stepfather, Jennings Breeden; son, Adam Lee Lemley, and grandchild, John Roscoe Foreman.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN, where the family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 12 (noon), with Pastor Virgil Noble, officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lake cemetery, with military honors rendered.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dunes Hospice nurse, Heather, aid, Amanda, and David's special caregiver, Mary.
Memorial contributions may be made in David's name to the family in care of Haverstock Funeral Home.
