John Stanley Rostecki, 78, from Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 9:02 p.m. in Regency Hospital, Portage, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral chapel.
He was born on May 12, 1946, in Bamberg, Germany, to the late Jozef and Jozefa (Kalyni) Rostecki. On January 20, 1968, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Michigan City, Indiana, he married Sandra (Moisan) Rostecki, who survives.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Kimberly Petrick of Michigan City, Indiana, and Rhonda (Bryant) Marsh of La Porte, Indiana; step-grandchildren Emma Marsh and Jacob (Courtney) Marsh; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Jason Petrick.
John was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967, returning home on his wife's birthday, September 17th. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church for many years. John was a loving husband and an amazing father. He cherished his family and his dogs. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed bargaining at flea markets and sharing his treasures on eBay. John will be remembered for making others laugh, he had a joke for every occasion. He was overwhelmingly generous, helping anyone in need.
