Claire Pizarek Ziomek, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 21, 2024, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating with burial to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The St. Stanislaus Rosary Society will recite the Rosary on Monday at 10:30 AM at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
She was born October 12, 1934, in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Alexander M. and Anna (Teets) Pizarek. On July 15, 1995, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married John A. Ziomek who preceded her in death on August 31, 2009.
Surviving are two daughters, Debra (David) Kietzman of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Lori (Patrick) Cusick of La Porte, Indiana; three sons, Thomas (Brenda) Schroeder of Michigan City, Indiana, Keith (Stacy) Schroeder of Hinesville, Georgia, and Scott (Misty) Schroeder of Michigan City, Indiana; grandchildren, Jessica (Edward) Schmidt of Michigan City, Indiana, Sarah (Scott) Johnson, Dallas, Georgia, Allison (Brad) Williams of South Bend, Indiana, Abigail Kietzman of Anchorage, Alaska, Kristen (David) Guard of Michigan City, Indiana, Bradley Cusick of Laporte, Indiana, Eric (Kylie) Cusick of Otis, Indiana, Andrew (Allison VanTornhout) Schroeder of Carmel, Indiana, Amelia Schroeder of New Buffalo, Michigan, Carter Schroeder, and Olivia Schroeder both of Michigan City, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Wesley Schmidt, Ayden Schroeder, Max Schmidt, Jackson Schmidt, Alice Guard, Victoria Guard,
Rosalie Guard, Roman Schroeder, twins Cecilia Johnson, and Eliza Johnson, Aurora Schroeder, Moses Guard, and Charlotte Cusick; She was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Schroeder, a great-grandson, Caleb Johnson, former spouse, Eldon "Sonny" Schroeder; three brothers, Alexander J. Pizarek, William Pizarek, and Andrew Pizarek; four sisters, Ann Bue, Helen Lansberg, Ruth Knoll, and Genevieve "Jenny" Pizarek.
Claire retired after over 20 years as a receptionist for Dr. Stephen Kroczek. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, and member of the Rosary Society, and Young at Heart. She volunteered at the St. Stanislaus Church Resale Shop and many other church functions. She also was a member of the Phi Espilion Kappa Sorority.
