Daniel H. Semla, 70, of Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Addison Pointe in Chesterton, IN.  Daniel was born on June 10, 1954, in Michigan City, IN, to Henry and Antionette (Janowski) Semla.  

Surviving are his children, Danielle (Joe) Scott, Matthew (Mallory) Semla, Thomas (Natalie) Semla, and Sarah (Eric) Semla; 3 grandchildren, McKenzlie, Zaya, and Henry Semla; mother, Antionette Semla of Michigan City; 2 sisters, Sharon (Tom) Ellenwood of Green, Ohio, and Karen (Timothy) Timm of La Porte; brother, Ramon "Ray" (Shawn) Semla of Michigan City; as well as many nieces and nephews; and best friends, Tom and Paula Oshinski.  

He was preceded in death by his father and son, Ryan Semla.  

Daniel worked as a railroad mechanic at South Shore for many years.  He enjoyed fishing and watching TV.  Daniel was the owner of Getaway Bar in Michigan City. 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Inurnment will follow at St. Stanislaus in Michigan City, IN.  

A time of visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
