Susan K. Gumns, 75, from Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday,
September 10, 2024, at 1:02 pm in her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN, with Pastor Jeff Zigler officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral chapel from noon - 2:00 pm on Thursday.
She was born November 15, 1948, in Michigan City, IN, to the late Eugene and Jeanette (Anderson) Switzer. On May 1, 1968, in Michigan City, IN, she married Dale Gumns who preceded her on October 12, 2013.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynn (Jay) Criggley of La Porte, IN; a son, Brian (Brooke) Gumns of Russellville, AR; five grandchildren, Eric (Tessa) Gumns, Daniel (Randi) Gumns, Cassie Gumns, Stephanie (Caleb) Stoll and Anthony Gumns; four sisters, Peggy (Joe) Schultz of Vail, AZ, Nancy (Joe) Groth of Sebring, FL, Michelle (Doug) Muenzer of Seguin, TX and Toni (Bob) Probst of Vail, AZ; brother, Dennis (Judy) Switzer of Michigan City, IN; special cousin, Gail Killingsworth; several nieces,
nephews and cousins; and her beloved dog, Callie. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Daniel Switzer and Timothy Switzer; and her brother and special friend, Keith Switzer.
Susan was a cosmetologist and retired from Sprague Devices. She graduated from Elston High School in 1967 and enjoyed crafting, camping, and spending time with her family. She also volunteered for hospice making prayer blankets. Susan was a cancer survivor and a mighty warrior.
