Lois Hazel Hearn, 90, of La Porte, IN, passed away at Brickyard Health-La Porte Care Center on Saturday, September 7, 2024. 

Lois was born on December 18, 1933, in Martin Co., IN, to Willie and Hazel (Emmons) Lagenour.  On June 15, 1971, she married Roger who preceded her in death on May 4, 2021. Surviving Lois are her 5 children, Sherie (Tom) Gilbert of Springville, Michelle (Todd) Welton of Union Mills, Norman (Beth) Self of Chesterton, Billy Self of La Porte, and Angie (Mike Kingery) Rippe of Porter; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenneth (Donna) Lagenour and Jerry (Lynn) Lagenour; 5 sisters, Betty Shipton, Evelyn Duncan, Norma Wilton, Linda (Butch) Butterfield, and Sue (Dave) Kniel; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Anita Webb and Athea Self; sons, Anthony and Alan Self; granddaughter, Mindy Self; grandson, Keith Gilbert; and brother, Lloyd Lagenour. 

Lois worked many years as a safety repair technician at Bethlehem Steel, being hired as one of their first female employees. She was a member of Harvest Time Church of God.  After she retired from the mill, Lois enjoyed traveling with her husband, Roger.  Most importantly, she very much enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private family memorial service will take place.  At a later date, a private family burial will take place at Chesterton Cemetery.
