Sandra Lou Bailey

Sandra Lou Bailey, 85, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 4:20 p.m. in her home in Michigan City, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral chapel.

She was born on December 1, 1938, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Norman and Elsie (Westphal) Wilke. In 1957, in Michigan City, Indiana, Sandra married James Howard Bailey, who preceded her in death in 1974.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry (Pam) Bailey of Michigan City, Indiana and Darrel (Carol) Bailey of Trail Creek, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Jason, Alex, Laura, Zachary, Robert, James, and Cassi; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents; former husband; one son, Kevin Bailey; one daughter, Andrea Metcalf; son-in-law, Gary Metcalf; daughter-in-law, Kathy Bailey; one sister, Marlene Sexton; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Cecilia Bailey. Sandra was a current member of the Red Hat Society, Senior Center of Michigan City, and was a big collector of Cherished Teddies.

Over the years, she kept close relationships with former classmates from Springfield Grade School, as she would attend the monthly meet ups. Sandra was a avid Cubs fan, participated and was a member of Michigan City Saddle Club, and was a artisan in crocheting and leather work. She held dear to her heart all the gifts that were given to her, especially Valentines cards from grade school. Sandra's joyful spirit will be missed by her family and those who have cherished memories with her.
