Joseph "Joe" Wisniewski, 85, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on June 18th, 2024, at his home.
Surviving family members include his wife for the last 62 years, Joan Wisniewski of La Porte; three daughters, Sandy (Steve) Thomas of Rensselaer, Indiana, Constance (Ryan) Sheets, and Kathy (John) Henrich, both of La Porte; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; siblings Walter (Pat) Wisniewski, Marie Martin, and Rosemary (Joe) Waterson; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary (Gruhalski) Wisniewski, and his granddaughter Christina Rossetti. Early in life,
Joe served his country in the Army for six years. In his career, he retired from Kaiser Aluminum where he worked as a machinist. Being a motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoyed sharing his love of motorcycles and racing with a countless number of family, friends, and neighbors. He was a respected member of the Maple City Motorcycle Club and a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association (AMA).
Later in life, this passion called him to collect license plates. This was a hobby he enjoyed which brought him feelings of excitement, adventure, and camaraderie. His love for the outdoors called him to build a pond and nature trail on his property that will be cherished by his family for eternity.
Joe will be remembered for his dedication, love of nature, and the commitment to his family.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:45 PM.
Visitation will continue on Wednesday morning, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024, at Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 201 Bach Street, La Porte, Indiana.
Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery with Military Honors.
