Winford "Wimp" Rodgers Wahlstrom, 91, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on May 27th, 2024, at his home, with family by his side.

 

Wimp was born on November 26th, 1932, in Judsonia, AR to Leonard and Elvie (English) Wahlstrom.

 

On May 25th, 1957, in La Porte, IN, he married Doris Mrozinski,  who survives. Also surviving are his 4 children, Jerry Dale Wahlstrom of La Porte, Bonnie (Brian) Graffis of La Porte, Beverly Foster of La Porte, and Gregory (Katie) Wahlstrom of Franklin; 3 grandchildren, Brianna Jean Graffis of La Porte, Lillian Dawn Wahlstrom of Franklin, and Levi Rodger Wahlstrom of Franklin; brother, William Wahlstrom of Buchanan, MI; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvie and Leonard Wahlstrom; son, Rodger Wahlstrom; sister, Rose Sears; and brother, Harold Wahlstrom.

 

Wimp proudly served in the U. S. Army, where he was a mechanic.

 

He was a Captain with the La Porte Fire Department. Wimp was a member of the American Legion and PRCU.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, woodworking, and building things.  Most importantly, Wimp loved and enjoyed being with his grandchildren.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 31st, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Brandon Martin officiating. Military Honors will be presented at the beginning of the service.  Burial will follow the service at Swan Lake Cemetery.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 30th, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
