James "Jim" Harbart

James "Jim" Harbart, 78, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, at 1:24 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.

 

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, May 29th, 2024, at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN.  Private burial will take place in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.   

 

He was born December 19th, 1945, in Michigan City, IN to the late Wallace and Helen Harbart. On October 25th, 1969, in Michigan City, IN he married Judith L. Pawlick who preceded him on November 13th, 2013.

 

Surviving are a daughter, Karrie Harbart of Trail Creek, IN; two sons, Kevin (Marla Bruns) Harbart of La Porte, IN, and Kirk (Dawn) Harbart of Portage, IN; three grandchildren, Clara, Gabriel, and Lillian Harbart all of Portage, IN.

 

Jim retired as an electrician at NIPSCO. He was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity, Michigan City, IN, and a life member of the Moose Family Center #980, Trail Creek, IN. Jim enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, and woodworking. He also volunteered operating the weigh scales for the Hoosier Coho Club fishing tournaments.
