Donna Marie Wagner, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Donna was born May 28th, 1936, to Paul A. Hay and Mary (Baker) Hay in Somerset Township, Somerset, PA, in a small town called Zimmerman, which was a coal mining town. She attended a one-room school that contained eight grades. In 1954, Donna graduated from Somerset High School.
Upon graduation, she moved to La Porte. She was engaged to Tom, who was in the Service, stationed in France for two years. Tom was released from the Service in December and they were married on January 18th, 1957. Tom and Donna enjoyed 51 years of marriage when Tom passed away on November 23rd, 2008.
Tom and Donna are survived by three children, Thomas "Tim" (Donna) Wagner III, Rick (Sheri) Wagner, and Tracey (Jim) Duszynski; eight grandchildren, Laura (Brad) McNew, Lisa Wagner, Maria (Zac) Ulmer, Nick Wagner, Kelly (Craig) Hawkins, Kortney Wagner, Sean (Jessica) Biehl, and Rachel (Justin) Sonnevil; twenty-two great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Shumaker; three brothers, Ernie Hay, Paul (Pam) Hay, and Alan (Debi) Hay; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Paul Hay; granddaughter, Melinda Wagner; grandson, Travis Wagner; brother-in-law, Robert Shumaker; and sister-in-law, Kathy Hay.
Donna loved walking, exercising, riding a bicycle, working on her lawn, and completing word and jigsaw puzzles. She loved cooking and shopping with her sister. Donna enjoyed her country music, especially her "wayback country" music as she didn't care for the new country. She loved Elvis's music, especially his religious songs.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Carl Galloway officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to La Porte Missionary Church, 104 E. 18th Street, La Porte, IN 46350, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
