Gregg Brian "Pop Pop" Fletcher, 60, of La Porte, Indiana, formerly of New Carlisle, ran into the arms of Jesus on Monday, May 20th, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 20th, 1964, in Niles, Michigan, the son of Chester Fletcher and Barbara "Karen" (Selent) Fletcher.
Gregg graduated from Niles High School and went on to study at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI. On August 1st, 1992, in South Bend, he married the love of his life, Tammy Kelly. In his career, Gregg was a Yardmaster for the Norfolk Southern Railroad for 23 years. In his spare time, though, Gregg was quite a Sportsman. He loved hunting and fishing, enjoyed NASCAR, with Bill Elliot as his favorite driver, and liked the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team. Football was his favorite, though, and he was an avid University of Michigan fan (Go Blue). Gregg was a car guy who liked working on cars, was a great outdoor cook, and enjoyed boating and going to the beach. He was a music lover and he and his brother would listen to the Beatles for hours. Spending time with his family was his greatest passion and though they will miss him, they are comforted by the fact that he was a saved Christian who knew where he was going.
Gregg is survived by his wife of 33 years, Tammy; two sons, Cody (Lindsey) Cassler of Waverly, NE, Camryn (Megan) Fletcher of La Porte, IN; daughter, Courtney (Brad) Cass of Mishawaka, IN; sister, Jessica (Bob) Rogers of Niles, MI; two grandchildren, Ben Cassler, Ellie Cassler and several nieces and nephews.
Gregg was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Todd and Scott Fletcher.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Saturday, May 25th, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m., all central time. His cousin, Pastor Tim Fletcher, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Because of Gregg's love for Michigan football, the family has requested that those who attend please wear maize and blue colors in his honor.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Memorial Hospital Oncology, South Bend, IN, or to Dunes Hospice, 4711 Evans Ave., Valparaiso, IN 46383.
