George Plantinga, 78, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 6th, 2024, at the University of Chicago Hospital, in Chicago, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, May 13th, 2024, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral chapel.
He was born on November 6th, 1945, in Barradeel, Baard, Netherlands, to the late Pieter and Jacoba (Kloosterman) Plantinga. On May 26th, 1990, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Judy (Tackett) Plantinga, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Brittney Plantinga of Michigan City, Indiana; one son, Brandon Plantinga of Michigan City, Indiana; three brothers, Pieter, Dick, and John Plantinga; one sister, Henny Parker; and one grandson, Cameron Plantinga.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Renny Roach.
For many years, he was a truck driver and business owner. George enjoyed the outdoors and loved the time he spent with his grandson. He also enjoyed relaxing and watching TV with his favorite cat, Snickers. George had a passion for riding and working on motorcycles, specifically Harley Davidson.
