Dorothea Mae "Dot" Gallion

Dot passed away on Thursday, April 25th, 2024, in Valparaiso at the age of 92.

 

She was born on April 23rd, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Albert Youdell of London, England, and Margaret Dunn-Burns of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

 

On April 3rd, 1953, she married Gerald Gallion of Bedford, Indiana, who preceded her in death in 2013 after 60 years of marriage. Together they owned and operated two businesses in Michigan City, Indiana: Jerry’s Furniture and Jerry’s Construction. They have three surviving children, David Gallion of Michigan City, Indiana, Robyn Eaton of Sarasota, Florida, and Jeannie Lawson of North Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

 

Dot is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Jeannean Leslie and Ellen Jean; and sisters, Winifred Spratt of Texas and Irene Brinkman of Michigan.

 

Those who knew Dot would agree she was very social, imaginative, hard-working, playful, and loved her desserts! She will be missed by all. 

 

Services will be scheduled at a future date. Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
