John F. Baird, Jr., 89, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, at 8:16 am in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.

 

He was born May 4th, 1934, in Bremen, IN to the late John and Dorothea (Bowlby) Baird, Sr. On July 24th, 1954, in Valparaiso, IN he married Patricia Petralias Baird who preceded him on June 3rd, 2022.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Baird and Judy (Charles) Feldhaus both of Michigan City, IN; a grandchild, Marcy Tanski; and a great-grandchild, Josephine Bourn.

 

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Baird; grandchild, Matthew  Tanski; and sister, Rosemary Hartman.

 

John retired after 32 years as an electrical maintenance supervisor at Bethlehem Steel and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a graduate of Valparaiso Technical Institute and a member of the Michigan City Senior Center. John enjoyed camping, Caribbean cruises, and spending the winters in Florida. 

 

Private family services will be conducted. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
