Jack Dean Werner

Jack Dean Werner, 88, of Union Mills, Indiana, passed away on April 11th, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family.

 

Jack was born on September 1st, 1935, in La Porte, IN, to Valentine and Esther (Reeves) Werner.

 

On March 21st, 1959, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Union Mills, he married Marian Hefner, who survives. Also surviving are his 2 nieces, Tammy (Paul) Heinen of Union Mills and Kelly (Terry) Nelson of La Porte; 2 nephews, Jeffrey (Dawn) Werner of Union Mills and Kevin (Susan) Werner of Crown Point; 2 great nieces, Alex and Abby Werner; 4 great nephews, Jon (Tara), Joe (Dalis), Nathan (Cie Ana), and K.C. Werner; 2 great, great nieces, Esmé and Annelia; 5 great, great nephews, Brysen, Rayland, Kayden, Jackson, and Landon; and goddaughter, Mary (Steve) Blazek.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters, Marge, Evelyn, Mary, and June; 3 brothers, Jim, Walter, and David; and nephew, Jay.

 

Jack was a dairy farmer who enjoyed wildflowers, wildlife, flowers, and gardening.  He truly enjoyed the simple things in life.  Jack was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, where he was the oldest living member and a full-session member.  He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and a former board member of Union Mills Cemetery.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 18th, 2024, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Union Mills with Pastor Bill Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Union Mills Cemetery.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church.
