Patricia Novak

Patricia Novak, 80, from Michigan City, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 1st, 2024, at 6:11 p.m. in her home.

 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14th, 2024, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Pastor Brian Parker officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral chapel.

 

She was born on August 23rd, 1943, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late James and Gertrude (Kniola) Dickerhoff. On July 8, 1961, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married John Novak, who preceded her in death on December 23rd, 2013. 

 

Surviving are her two daughters, Lisa Novak and Tammy (Benny Taylor) Novak both of Michigan City, Indiana; one son, Paul (Lucrethia "Lucy" Altman) Novak of Montpelier, Indiana; two sisters, Joyce Gayheart of Westville, Indiana and Linda (Douglas) Steinhiser of Michigan City, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Jonathon (Christina Venner) Gouge, Kristopher (Katy) Gouge, Brian Gouge, Steven Gouge, Robbie (Katie Schonberger) Novak, Joann (Jon Tharp) Cooper, Joshua (Mandy) McCoy, Katelyn Hansen, Marissa Novak, and Adjalena Altman; fourteen great-grandchildren, Parker, Paige, Molly, Benjamin, Jaeden, Gavin, Bradley, Averi, Haley, Avery, Hazel, Ian, AJ, and Ezra.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Kathy "Sissy" Hansen; and one brother, James "Shorty" Dickerhoff.

 

Patricia was formerly a manager for Sears and Walmart. In her younger days, she was an avid bowler. She was a member of St. Mary the Immaculate Conception, Michigan City. More recent, she enjoyed sitting sessions on her front porch watching the neighbors and birds. She grew fond of the hummingbirds and cardinals. Patricia loved cooking and was always captured tending to her garden. She also loved spending time with her sisters. Her family described her as, "The Best, funny, selfless strongest person." Patricia was the one known to be the rock and glue that held the family together. She will be missed, most certainly.
