Juanita Mae Curless, 96, of New Carlisle passed away on April 4th, 2024, at Hamilton Communities.

 

Juanita was born in La Porte, Indiana on October 25th, 1927, to Emery and Alta (Arndt) Kindig.

 

She married Albert "Ob" Curless who preceded her in death.  Surviving are her sons, Terry (Yvonne) Curless of La Porte and Gary (Linda) Curless of New Carlisle; daughter-in-law, Angie Curless; 7 grandchildren, Chad (Kelli) Curless, Nicholas (Joanna) Curless, Ryan (Anisha) Curless, Aliesha (Christopher) Hohalek, Garrett (Tara) Curless, Brittany (Sam) Miller, and Bryan (Tabatha) Curless; 14 great-grandchildren, Grace. Griffey, Aiden, Autumn, Lyla, Lane, Jerricho, Jameson, Jay, Ethan, Carver, Piper, Cameron, and Bryceton; siblings, Cleo Bach of Illinois and Gerald Kindig of Michigan City; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Randy Curless; brothers, William, Gordon, James, Robert, and Warren Kindig; sisters, June Wintek, Nancy Kindig; Sharon Greenlaw.

 

Juanita was a seamstress for Kingsley Furniture.  She loved cooking, especially her specialty Christmas pizza. In their younger years, Juanita and Ob enjoyed square dancing together and camping with their young family. Juanita had a card-playing family, particularly Euchre.  She watched sports of all kinds but was an avid Cubs fan.  Juanita especially loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

 

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Cremation will take place following the service.  A private family burial at Patton Cemetery will take place at a later date.
