Nicholas Thomas Bubalo

Nicholas Thomas Bubalo, 82, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on March 10th, 2024, at Southlake Methodist Hospital.

 

Nicholas was born on December 19, 1941, in Chicago, IL, to Rudolph and Katherine (Popovich) Bubalo.

 

On February 27th, 1971, in Chicago, IL, he married Loreen Wagner, who survives. Also surviving are his 3 children, Rosie Michiaels of New Carlisle, Michael Bubalo of La Porte, and Karla (Joe) Buda of La Porte; 8 grandchildren, Allie (Derick) Nesvold, Taylor Martin, Nick Shei, Samantha Shei, Savannah (Eddie) Gehrmann, MacKenzie Bubalo, Luke Bubalo, and Julien Bubalo; 5 great-grandchildren, Wynton, Rohen, Cooper, Aria, and Caroline. 2 sisters, Millie Cueller and Dorothy Blazek; 2 brothers, Steve (Lucile) Bubalo and Mike Bubalo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Kaitlynn Shei; daughter-in-law, Amber Bubalo; son-in-law, Brent Martin; and nephew, Nick Bubalo.

 

Nicholas was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  He was honorably discharged in 1966 as a Corporal.

 

He was a member of the American Legion 295, VFW, 48/8, and DAV.  Nicholas enjoyed working on cars, attending auctions, cooking, and, most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren.  He loved collecting and antiquing.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15th, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Jeff Zigler officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Door Village Cemetery.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
