Bernadette Sue Nizinski

Bernadette Sue Nizinski, 94, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 1st, 2024.

 

Bernadette was born in Terre Haute, IN, on December 23rd, 1929, to Edward and Marie Fischer.

 

In 1948, she married L. Gene Landes who preceded her in death.  In Terre Haute in 1975, Bernadette married her second husband, Norbert Nizinski who also preceded her in death. 

 

Surviving are her children, Felicia Dee Landes of Bonnerdale, Arkansas, Durenda (Mark) Lovas of Beaufort, South Carolina, Letitia (George) Steinfels of Jupiter, Florida, Brian (Kelly) Landes of Auburndale, Florida, and Gregg A. (Vicky) Landes of La Porte; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Amy Landes Lieberman; and grandson, Gregg Landes, Jr.  

 

Bernadette was an entrepreneur who managed Sales & Catering at McCormick Place International Trade Center in Chicago.  She was a professional roller skater and Master gardener.  She loved her cars and animals.  Bernadette was an avid fisherman, a carpenter creating woodworking sculptures, and an artist creating porcelain sculptures as well.  

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

 

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Bob Vale officiating.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.
