Bonnie Cheryl Faulstich

Bonnie Cheryl Faulstich, 74, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday, February 17th, 2024, at Millers Health and Rehab, La Porte.

She was born November 13th, 1949, in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of George Beaver, Jr. and Bernadette (Schiele) Beaver-Catlin.

On December 12th, 1970, in La Porte, she married the love of her life, Walter Albert Faulstich Jr, who survives.

She is also survived by her son, Jeffrey Scott Faulstich of La Porte, IN; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Faulstich of Chicago, IL; brother, Bill Hopkins of Minneapolis, MN; step-sister, Sandy (Chuck) Koerber of Hamburg, IN; several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Vern Catlin; brother, Ron Beaver and sister, Barbara Ginther.

A lifelong resident of the area, Bonnie graduated from La Porte High School, class of 68, and attended Bethany Lutheran Church growing up. She loved animals, had horses as a child, and was a former member of the La Porte Saddle Club. Bonnie was an artist who enjoyed drawing, painting, sculpting, and making jewelry. She also loved gardening, both flowers, and vegetables, and was a voracious reader.  Her passion, though, was breeding, raising, and showing English Mastiffs. Placing many champion dogs in shows and pet homes, she acted as a mentor to many and was considered an authority on the breed.  Her dynasty, Lyonhurst Mastiffs, began with her first puppy, Muffin, who was inducted into the Mastiff Hall of Fame, and continued for more than 20 years. Bonnie and Walter traveled far and wide to dog shows and to deliver dogs to prospective owners, whom she carefully vetted. She also worked with Mastiff Rescue in the Midwest area.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN.  Cremation will take place and a Celebration of Bonnie's Life will be announced at a later date.

At this time, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bonnie's name to the Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue, PO Box 47256, Chicago, IL 60647 or www.glmr.org, or Huntington's Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Ave, Suite 902, New York, New York 10018 or www.hdsa.org.
