Doris Ann (Lidgard) Towle

Doris Ann (Lidgard) Towle, beloved Mother, Sister, Grandma, and Great Grandma passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 13th, 2024. She was 79 years old.

She left behind a brother, Fred (Doris) Leaf; sisters, Debbie (Ron) Gregory and Edna Mae Spinelli; daughter, Mickey (Don) Brady; son, Barry (Donna Burney) Towle, Sr.; grandchildren, Sara Towle, Barry (Tasha Tolson) Towle, Jr., Adrianne (Tom) Ball, and Stephanie Culp; great-grandchildren, Kacy Wesson Smith, Elsie Mae Towle, Aiyana (Justin) Salcedo, Montana Wrzesinski, Christian Gordon, Sheldon Brady, Owen Brady, Cameron Gordon, Nathan Brady, and Corbin Baum; and several nieces and nephews. We know she was met at Heaven’s Gate by her husband of 61 years, James Towle who had her favorite horse, Sunburst Patchy, all saddled up and waiting for her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Arlene Lidgard, Christopher Adams, and Violet Bouchie; brothers, Richard Lidgard and Michael Bouchie; daughter-in-law, Theresa (Kinder) Towle; nephew, Brian Lidgard; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Our mother touched many lives through her lifelong commitment to the breeding, training, and showing of horses. She always said, “Leave ‘em better than you found ‘em”, and she always did. She was a horsewoman extraordinaire who graced our lives and the lives of all animals she encountered.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honor the lives of our parents on Friday, April 5th, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., at the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 23, 2301 Ohio Street, Michigan City, Indiana. A bonfire will take place following the celebration at the family farm at 3085 West 450 North, La Porte, Indiana. Please bring your own chairs and beverages of choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, in La Porte. In lieu of flowers and donations, we ask that you take the money you would have spent and use it to make wonderful memories with your families.
