John Wilfred Palman

John Wilfred Palman, 75, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, at Northwest Health La Porte

 

John was born in Chicago, IL, on January 19th, 1949, to John and Alice (Jones) Palman.

 

On May 6th, 2000, in Michigan City, IN, he married Patricia McClain who survives. Also surviving are his 2 daughters, Laura (Ryan) Schreiber of La Porte and Lindsey (Tyson) Greenwood of New Carlisle; step-daughter, Julie (Lukas) Huston of Douglasville, GA; step-son, Gary (Leah) McClain of Greenwood; sister, Georgeanne (John) Ricci of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren, Tyson Jr., Melanie, Mason, and Tim Greenwood, Avery, Emery, Allie, and Evan Schreiber, and Haylie and Thadd Munsey; as well as 2 nieces.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Julie Fletcher; and stepson, Jeff McClain.

 

John worked as a foreman for Bethlehem Steel and later became an independent insurance agent.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Michigan City.  John enjoyed trains, cars, and building things.  He will be fondly remembered for his ability to fix anything--"If he can't fix it, it ain't broke!".

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

 

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 29th, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor David Solum officiating.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial contributions be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1237 E. Coolspring Ave., Michigan City, IN 46360.
