Geraldine H. Kubaszyk

Geraldine H. Kubaszyk, a fount of compassion and love, passed away peacefully on February 18th, 2024, in her hometown of La Porte, Indiana. Born on November 26th, 1941, to the late William W. and Pauline (Bonifas) Jones, Geraldine's life was a testament to her faith-filled and passionate spirit.

 

Geraldine dedicated her life to the care and well-being of others. Her career in nursing spanned several decades during which she served with unwavering commitment and empathy. Geraldine began her journey as a nurse at Fountainview Nursing Home in La Porte. She later rose to the position of Director of Nursing at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home in Portage, Indiana, and also made significant contributions as a Workman's Comp Nurse. Her colleagues and patients alike will remember her as a loving and dedicated professional who went above and beyond in her duties.

 

Geraldine's passion for service extended beyond her professional life. She was a devoted member of Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Church in La Porte, where her faith shone brightly as a guiding light for many. Her commitment to her faith community was unwavering, and she found great joy in participating in church activities. Additionally, her sorority sisters from Alpha Omicron Pi will fondly recall her enthusiasm and the deep bonds of sisterhood they shared.

 

Family was the cornerstone of Geraldine's world. On April 28th, 1962, Geraldine married Jerome G. Kubaszyk, Sr., who preceded her in death on April 29th, 2014. She is survived by her four sons, Jeff (Josette) Kubaszyk of La Porte; Kerry (Carrie) Kubaszyk of Summerville, South Carolina; Jerome (Jennifer) Kubaszyk of La Porte; and Jonathan P. (Keila) Kubaszyk of Brownsburg, Indiana. Geraldine's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jordan, Jackson, Madeline, Simon, Ryan, Angie, Emma, Abriella, Jay, and Sawyer, and her great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the values of love and kindness she instilled in them.

 

Geraldine was the youngest of three sisters and was preceded in death by Frances Thomas and Mary Mounce. 

 

As we bid farewell to Geraldine, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and the countless lives she touched with her generosity, warmth, and lively sense of humor. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones forever.

 

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where at 6:45 p.m. a Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be prayed followed by the Holy Rosary.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, February 23rd, 2024, at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Church in La Porte. Bishop Patrick M. Neary, C.S.C., will officiate. 

 

Family and friends may gather at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home prior to the Mass.

 

Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in La Porte.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 108 C. Street Street, La Porte, Indiana 46350.
