Wilma Jean Matayo

Wilma Jean Matayo, 79, of La Porte, passed away on February 18th, 2024, at Millers Merry Manor-New Carlisle.

 

Wilma was born on August 11th, 1944, in Decatur, IL, to Eddy and Helen (Wesselhoff) Bocknar.

 

Surviving Wilma are her son, Kenneth W. Matayo; granddaughters, Brittany Matayo and Alyssa Heaphy; brother, Robert King; dear friend/like a daughter, Melissa Cable; bonus grandchildren, Rachel Cable, Chad (Emily) Cable, and Gwen Cable; bonus great-grandchildren, Mason and Avalynn; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Phyllis Cannon and Kathy Carol-DeMarrow; and significant other, Haron Woolbright.

 

Wilma worked many years as a line leader assembler.  She enjoyed camping, dancing, and cruising around with Haron in his antique car.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26th, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery, La Porte.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the VFW La Porte, 181 McClung Rd, La Porte, IN 46350, or to the donor's choice.
