Sammy Ann Robbins, 84, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday, February 11th, 2024, at Brickyard Care Center-La Porte, IN.

 

She was born December 30th, 1939, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Robert Latch and Helen (Jenkins) Latch.

 

Sammy Ann led a fascinating life enjoying and being involved in so many things. She was a member of the "Red Hat Society", Michigan City Senior Center, and loved collecting dolls and hummingbirds. She was a big antique shopper and when it was Christmas time, she truly possessed an eye for decorating Christmas. And not what one would think, she loved "The Grinch". Sammy Ann enjoyed going to plays such as, "Cats", Fiddler on the Roof" (seeing this one 11 times), and several others. She enjoyed Bee Gees music, and attended 14 concerts of Neil Diamond. She was a true cat lover as well. But her biggest passion was her family which always came first.

 

She is also survived by her husband Ronald Robbins; a son, Mark (Vicki) Robbins of La Porte, IN; Two 1/2 Brothers, Joe, Burke; two 1/2 sisters, Margie of Decatur, IL, Melinda of Wildwood, IL; a very good friend, Fran Roderstorf. 

 

Sammy was preceded in death by her 1/2 brother, Ted, 1/2 brother, Steve, 1/2 sister, Connie, and close friend, Liz Walker.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Brickyard Nursing Home on “I” Street.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN.  A life celebration will be held at a later time. Cremation has taken place.
